Eligibility and Application Process
Eligibility
Juniors and sophomores from any Cornell University college, department, or program may apply.
Applicants must:
- Have an interest in urban social justice issues
- Have a strong academic record and history of community engagement
- Be enrolled at Cornell during the spring before and the fall after their summer internship (applicants may not participate in a study abroad program during the spring semester)
- Be prepared to:
- Enroll in CRP 331 - Social Justice in the City: Preparation for Fieldwork - in spring 2008
- Participate in a pre-placement agency field trip, March, 2008
- Attend a three-day orientation in New York City, May 31 - June 2, 2008
- Be available to serve as a full-time intern from June 3 - August 1, 2008
- Provide CUSP with an update of my enrollment status if it is expected to change after May 1, 2008
- Have health insurance coverage during summer 2008
Application Process
ALL of the following documents must be received by the Cornell Urban Scholars Office (108 West Sibley Hall) by November 9, 2007 at 4pm:
- Completed application
- Completed essay question
- Two letters of recommendation
- Up-to-date transcript
- Resume
